Tarija is a beautiful, old city that is the capital of the Tarija province. Full of incredible parks and historical buildings, and a wonderfully warm climate! It's really a great place to warm up if you've been traveling through the cold parts of Bolivia from La Paz to Uyuni! There are so many interesting things to see and do, and the city is very pedestrian friendly!

Located in southern Bolivia I found this very attractive town with rich colonial architecture almost having more of an "Argentine feel." One of the reasons is the grilling of meats BBQ style (so common in Argentina - not in Bolivia) The main square is lovely with towering palm trees and cafes/restaurants ringing it. In addition to this, this is the most famous wine region in the country (they produce the highest elevated wines in the world).

Tarija is a sleepy city at the heart of Bolivia's wine country. The culture of Tarija is heavily influenced by Argentina, so make sure you enjoy plenty of good wine, and great steak. Also try to check out a peña and listen to lively local music like chacareras and cuecas

A sleepy little part of Bolivia that produces wine, and usually steers clear from the political strife of the rest of the country. Some nice waterfalls, and a good place to grab some steak.
