Aomori is a small but pleasant city. There's a major shopping street and a train station, as well as museums. If you happen upon this city, however, you must try a local apple. They are delicious.
The Buddha in Aomori is one of the largest in Japan, definitely worth seeing!
Aomori doesn't have much in terms of sightseeing for tourists, but the Aomori Museum of Art and the Sukayu Onsen Ryokan were memorable places to visit. During the winter months, watch the train and flight schedules closely as snow storms could cancel or delay these modes of transportation going through Aomori.
