Not my favorite city in the world and nearly every Mongolian would tell you he or she would rather be in the countryside, nevertheless, you will most likely land in Ulaanbaatar at least once during your trip to Mongolia. And I don't think you'd want to miss it because there are some good museums and monasteries here and cultural events. as well Also the best hotels are in UB.
The capital city of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar is where the adventure starts. It's a pleasant enough city to hang around for a few days, with all the great Korean (yes, that's right!) restaurants.
Very interesting city with mixture of Mongolian and Russian architecture. The back drop of mountains makes it ver picturesque.
A growing melting pot of cultures in a small city, ulaanbaatar is unassumingly metropolitan. There are international restaurants and huge shopping complexes. However, Ulaanbaatar is really always only a stopover for travelers to Mongolia as the main draw is the countryside. This makes for a good stopover to rejuvenate and refresh after weeks in the wild.
