The Hanseatic City of Groningen in the province of Groningen, is after Amsterdam (the city where I live) my second favorite city in The Netherlands. Groningen has a long and troubled history, but now It’s really a vibrant student city, and lives around the clock 7 days a week. Groningen has the most beautiful museum of modern and regional art, het ”Groninger Museum” in Netherlands. There are good cafes and restaurants, friendly people and there is even a small red light district. The Martini tower looks over the city with its wealth of old warehouses and courtyards, out to all visitors. In Short, “Er Gaat Niet Boven Groningen” (There's Nothing Like Groningen).
Groningen is like Amsterdam but with a lot less tourists. Like Amsterdam there are canals and the city is very bicycle friendly. There are a lot of students as the university is big. There are not the great museums like Amsterdam, but Groningen is very walkable and pleasant.
I am living in it and I am happy!:)
A wonderful place to study and meet people.
