What a great view as you come to the south island on the ferry! This is the stop for the Interilander and many tourists, vehicles, and goods are offloaded.
There is really not much of anything to Picton other than the fact that the inter-island ferry stops there. One of the best things about the town is the approach on the ferry through to the town through the sounds.
Love Picton! A small town on the coast, is a gateway to the South Island from Wellington by ferry. As you approach the South Island, you go through Marlborough Sound and Queen Charlotte Sound to name a couple. Gorgeous scenery you'll see on the ferry. One of the most spectacular ferry rides in the world it has been called. I definately agree!
