Kigali was the cleanest place on earth with the friendliest people, I wish I could go there every year. I will carry this trip in my heart forever.

Kigali is a curious city. Still shrouded in the sadness of the past genocide, most of the attractions still relate to it. However, it is blossoming into the future as well, as there have now been two decades of stability. The capital is a small, green town with a handful of shiny new buildings poking out of the ground. The roads are immaculate, and there is no trash, or pollution visible. There are also trendy little cafes and restaurants popping up around the city, and small art studios to go visit. Walking is easy, and safe, and you are constantly rewarded with views as you pass over the rolling hills.

Kigali is not one of your most touristy locations. Try finding ideas of what to do on Trip Adviser or Lonely Planet and you'll get very little assistance. Kigali is a very clean and safe city, which makes it popular as a host of international and African conventions. They have plenty of high end hotels. The restaurant scene isn't bad. The city is defined by spectacular topography, which makes exploring the city feel a bit like going into a M.C. Escher sketch. Try driving around and explore some of the districts, and enjoy the views of the rolling hills.

Remarkably pristine and safe hillside city. Feels more like Singapore than Africa. A wonderful escape if you've ventured to Rwanda from other parts of the continent.
