Daegu is known as Korea's "red city" for a few reasons: The area around Daegu offers the country's best red apples, it's a fairly conservative and right-wing leaning city both socially and economically, and in the summer it is often unbearably hot. Koreans will often warn you about the city's extreme temperatures before your visit. But it is a city on the rise and one of the country's most prosperous areas for business and opportunity. There's some gorgeous hikes and parks in the area, a great herbal market and other outdoor markets, an excellent historical walk and Daegu is home to some of South Korea's best nightlife. Any night out in Daegu will bound to end in a funny (and somewhat blurry) travel story for the future.

If you are a vegetarian, then this review is not for you :)
Food recommendations: One of the best recipes is samgyetang (삼계탕). Ttoekbokki (떡볶이), ofcourse - kimbap, mandu, bibimbap, kimchi chigae, bulgogi...
