Jerez is a lovely town to wander around and soak up the atmosphere. There is a large and fascinating indoor food market in the mornings and a bustling shopping area, which is not too overwhelming. The old town can be discovered just off the main shopping street where there are narrow streets with many bars and restaurants with lots of delicious tapas. Visit a bodega to find out about the different sherries produced in the area. There is the cathedral and the alcazar to visit too. The railway station and bus terminus are a short walk from the centre and have good links to surrounding areas.

Jerez, the city of the good wines and spanish horses. Stroll the city and its monuments, stopping to rest in the old bars or visiting one of the ancient fine wineries like Tio Pepe, near the arab fortress in the city center.
You can reach Jerez in a 10 minutes train trip, from our attic palace house in El Puerto de Santa Maria.

Maybe even five-stars. The outskirts don't prepare you for the fine historic centre with grand buildings in styles from Renaissance to Art Deco. Foodies' paradise. Tours of sherry bodegas. Camera obscura (very weird experience - a sort of panoramic early CCTV).
