Arkutino beach is part of the preserved area of river Ropotamo, near Burgas, Bulgaria. The beach is covered with sand lilies - protected species. You may make awesome beach trekking - walk through the dunes, swim in the sea, jump off the cliffs.
This is nice port city on the Black Sea. Still needs some work but much better than Romania and they are building. The railway station has free internet. Nice area for shopping with no traffic.
Burgas is at the extreme western end of the Black Sea and is one of Bulgaria's biggest ports. I was here on a border run from Turkey with my wife in 2008. Aside from wandering the two main streets, which have a few handsome turn of the century buildings colored pastel shades, and walking along the beach (where it's impossible to get away from the sight of cranes and tankers), there wasn't a whole lot to do.
Tourists can learn more about the city and other interesting facts in the expositions of the Regional Historical Museum of Bourgas, which are situated in a few buildings. Pictures and documents related to the most contemporary history of Bourgas - after 1878 to the 1970s are presented in the historical exposition. Archaeological finds from Antiquity and the Middle Ages are presented in the Archaeological Exposition on 21 Aleko Bogoridi Str. The history of ship building on the Black Sea since the middle of the 2nd century BC is presented with a special collection of articles. Here visitors can learn more about the history of Bourgas during the first and the Second Bulgarian Empire and the falling of the town under Ottoman dominion.
