Cozumel is a mostly undeveloped Mexican island in the Caribbean and is a popular cruise port, famous for its dive sites. In Cozumel Reef National Park, there are dive sites around a section of the Mesoamerican reef and submerged sculptures of the Underwater Museum of Art. Chankanaab is an ecological park that surrounds a lagoon with underwater caverns and houses dolphins, manatees and sea turtles.
Had a good time. The sun was out and it was hot. Spent the day at a resort on the very end of the island. Unfortunately, you had to be a guest at the resorts to be able to spend the day there but we found one where we could just purchase food and drinks. It is a very small island, however, you still need transport to get from one end to the other.
Very touristy. Filled with shops and beaches and restaurants around the cruise ports. Resorts are nice as well but don't stray too far away from them. A lot of people come here for spring breaks. Families come here as well but mainly stick to a tour group rather than roaming about because it's filled with partiers in almost every bar. A great place for young people to come out and relax and let loose a bit.
AMAZING place for scuba diving and snorkeling. Also wonderful authentic foods!
