Galle is the first place I'd go back to if I was visiting Sri Lanka again. It's a wonderful mix of a small town feeling with the coast. It's both elegant and local, and close to a lot of wonderful spots to explore.
The city is filled with Dutch-colonial buildings people come from faraway places to see. The air is filled with the sweet smell of spices and the salty winds give it a authentic recognition. Galle is filled with art that's rare, the streets are filled with people who are ambitious and hardworking, showcasing their efforts in one the best displays that please the eye immensely. The classic architecture fuses with the tropical setting that's the envy of many man-made resorts and architects. Galle is said to be a heavenly piece of art, tropical heaven and rich in history. If you love old English towns or Dutch architecture then you will love Galle. The Galle Fort has a brilliant view of the sea and the streets are filled with people from all over the world. Lots of places to eat, drink, chill and meet new people everyday. This was one of my favourite places in Sri Lanka. Make sure you shop for spices here. I made a pit stop twice for shopping and food.
Galle is a coastal town in southwest of Sri Lanka. It's a popular destination for international travelers. Its fort is the most famous attraction here. Interestingly, the fort has a colourful history, and today has a multi-ethnic and multi-religious population. It's one of the only places that you can see mosque.
