A lovely, historic town with a plethora of shops, Buxton Opera House and the Pavilion Gardens.
Well worth a visit, home to the Buxton Opera House and other notable architecture, including a crescent modeled on Bath’s Royal Crescent.
Not strictly speaking in the Peak District National Park, but right on the edge, this beautiful spa town is a great place to stay to have a bit of town and countryside. Explore the georgian architecture in the town centre, visit the parks, drink gorgeous coffee in the cafes, taste the spa water, and from 2014 visit the thermal spa pools. The hop on a bus, or in your car and within minutes, you'll be in the Peak District National Park.
This Roman spa town is one of the north's prettiest and is in the center of the world's second most-visited national park so in close proximity to tons of walks, rock-climbing, caves, beautiful views, prehistoric sites, stone circles and of course very unpredictable weather! Buxton has just enough to keep most people occupied with shopping, culture and dining and provides the perfect base from which to discover the Peak District, Sheffield, Manchester and many more places in the North-West and East Midlands of England.
