If you love to dine and shop, this hotel is a perfect location – situated along the stylish Rambla Catalunya and running parallel to Passeig de Gràcia with its famous architectural landmarks. Walking into the shiny marble lobby, I couldn’t help but admire the ornate entrance doorway with its old-fashioned 1920s style stained glass. There is also a lovely little bar decorated with the same patterned stained glass, however the staff seem to be using it more for luggage storage than entertaining their guests. Upstairs, I found the rooms to be spacious and comfortable, however there wasn’t much in the way of style and décor. It’s the type of room you’ll really only want to use for sleeping. The hotel’s rooftop terrace with lovely seating areas, gorgeous views and a small plunge pool is a nice surprise, however it’s only open in summer.
The stained glass work in this hotel is delightful, in harmony with the modernista style of the whole city. The neighborhood is awesome, and the rooms are clean and nice too, but the little rooftop pool is the best amenity in this place. If you have the chance ask for the balcony room, it is not a big effort and you will gain a gorgeous view outside. Then take a walk on the beautiful Rambla de Catalunya or enjoy a drink or some tapas in one of the many bars there, it is a unique spot for the people watching here. The building was built in 1913 and it was given the name of "Casa Evarist Juncosa", its whole appeal is in this historical identity.
This HCC hotel's 2 best features are the rooftop swimming pool, and of course the location! Situated on Rambla de Catalunya, a popular shopping boulevard lined with terraces to dine or enjoy drinks, the hotel is just a 5 minute walk from Paseo de Gracia, considered to be the most upmarket street in Barcelona and home to designer and high street stores as well as Gaudi’s La Pedrera and Casa Batllo. The hotel offers good quality accommodation, friendly staff and reasonable prices – what more do you need in such a central location!
The Modernista building the hotel is located in is absolutely gorgeous, and inside the décor retains some of this charm, but perhaps not as much as I would like. That said, if you keep an eye out, there’s some of the original stained glass, and wrought iron work to be enjoyed. The hotel’s bar is very cute, and seems like the perfect choice if you’re meeting someone for a drink before dinner out. My only real disappointment was that the rooftop terrace was closed—it’s only open in the summer months, and while I understand that people might not be swimming in March, it would be nice to be able to head to the terrace to soak up some rays or get pictures of the city skyline by night.
this hotel was fab just at the start of the Ramblas 5min walk from the square are a bit quiet at nite but a stone throw from the hustle and bustle swimming pool on the roof and breakfast hot and cold buffet fantastic clean and the staff so helpful and near to a lot of Antonio Gaudis work resturants on your doorstep superb would stay there again .
