I wasn’t dazzled by this hotel. The rooms were sizeable and nicely decorated – the receptionist described them as “modern,” which I suppose one may qualify Technicolor quilts and bare walls as – but lacked personality, in my opinion. They do come with televisions, i-docks, and minibars. But there wasn’t anything more to the hotel besides a small breakfast area on the first floor. And since the hotel does not contain a kitchen, nothing can be cooked (so forget about eggs or bacon). Instead, fruit, toast, medialunas (Argentinean croissants), and juice are on the menu (which, actually, is quite nice). But all in all, I'd go somewhere else.
Own is in a good location if you're into nightlife, but it's sales talking points are a bit inaccurate. Though there is clearly and artsy-design theme, the hotel tries to sell itself as a luxury establishment, when it doesn't even have a gym. The staff is very friendly and informative. If you're going to stay here I recommend booking ahead of time and bargaining for a good deal, especially if you're staying for more than 2-3 nights. That's definitely more worth it than booking last minute and paying full-price. Other than that, it's an ok hotel for the price, but the location is definitely great.
I was really impressed with how well-informed and helpful the reception staff were. They were very efficient at dealing with lots of requests at once and I felt I was being sold the best possible advice on tours around the city as well as places to go to eat in the evening. The problem is that the hotel itself just wasn’t that interesting. The decor was dull - modern and clean and tasteful, but dull - and the bar area was small. There was the option to eat breakfast at the bar, but bar stools are not the most comfortable of chairs to sit on during breakfast. The only other option was to eat breakfast in the hotel room. Basically, it would have been fine if it had been a lot cheaper. For the basic services available, I felt it was noticeably overpriced.
Own Palermo is stylish, modern, and really well located in Palermo. The breakfast seems pretty tight. They only have 16 rooms, but even so, I would think it might get a bit crowded. The rooms are just enormous. They are modern, sleek, and somewhat industrial, but still comfortable and welcoming, full of light. Our balcony wrapped around the corner and wasn't near anyone else's, which was really nice and private. The bathroom was also really huge, but didn't have a bathtub, just a shower, which was really disappointing for the price of the room! The business center is pretty well equipped for such a small hotel, as was the bar! There is an art gallery in the back, but no gym or patio, the only common space is the breakfast room which is attached to the lobby.
Sleek boutique hotel that has everything you need without being too fancy.
The whole place has a very sleek, modern design and has lots of facilities for a luxurious and comfortable stay.
The room was generously sized and the bathroom was also bigger than usual, although it was missing a bath. The look and feel of the room was modern with some homely touches, yet it didn’t feel that homely.
Deluxe room had a huge balcony that looked down into the patio below. Plus it’s a really private balcony too, which you sometimes don’t get with all hotels. Breakfast has a wide range of things to choose from. Not that hearty and is missing eggs etc but still a nice selection of fruit, cereal, pastries and juices.
You’ll find a nice little art gallery at the back too that you can look around: a nice little extra touch. The staff are lovely and really helpful: always willing to help book you a restaurant, excursion or give you advice. They speak excellent English too.
It’s really close to all the local restaurants, bars and clubs of Palermo Hollywood. The area is quite lively and safe although I’d be careful walking around at night. It’s really close the la Cabrera restaurant which I’d highly recommend.
Unfortunately Own doesn’t have a pool or gym which is disappointing considering the price of the room. There is a gym quite close by that you can pay to use per day.
Kinda different hotel. Very spartan room, like one big box with white walls. I think the idea is for the investors to build it, rent rooms out as a hotel for 10 years, then convert it to studio apartments.
The room, and the feel, was a little odd. But, the place was clean, quiet, and the staff here were all excellent, friendly, and helpful. And, there were two computers in the lobby with access to the internet (for free).
This was my first trip to Buenos Aires. The Own hotel is in Palermo Hollywood, and easily walkable to Palermo Viejo, but if I could do it all over again, I wish I had stayed in Palermo Viejo for my first trip. If you've already been to Buenos Aires and know your way around, then yes, I would recommend this hotel.
