Great museum to visit, with a low admission fee and a unique collection of Buffalo History. Also, check out the research library for help with local history research projects. The grounds are also very picturesque, especially during summertime with the Japanese Garden and cherry blossoms in the back.
This large, neoclassical museum (the south portico is modelled on the Parthenon in Athens) is located off the Scajaquada bike path on the far west side of Delaware Park. It was built for the Pan-American Exposition in 1901, and is the only permanent structure to survive. It's now home to the Buffalo Historical Society, which has been documenting the region’s past since 1862. There's a research library and three floors of exhibits focusing on Native Americans, pioneers, and more recent history, including products that were manufactured in Buffalo, and the re-created office of the late newscaster, and Buffalo native, Tim Russert.
