The Hampton Inn name doesn’t exactly scream “classic Chicago,” but this Loop hotel is located in the Majestic Building, an historic edifice located in the heart of downtown. After emerging from the marble-cocooned elevator-bank area, I noticed that the hotel looked much more modern, like it semi-recently received an update. The lobby isn’t too spacious, but it does have a nice little dining area where visitors can grab breakfast or happy-hour bites. The hotel rooms are plenty comfortable, and their reddish-orange color scheme help create a warm environment. There’s also a nice little gym that offers enough gear to get you a solid workout. A nice touch is the gym’s motivational adage painted on the wall: “energize your mood.”
This is such a beautiful, historic building. Some of the original details have been preserved--the floors in the elevators were my favorite, I think. The lobby and rooms have been updated but are also lovely. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and on a cold day in January, I was thankful for the free coffee and cookies on my arrival. Definitely book a room here if you're in town for the theater.
Located in the Majestic Building, this hotel is beautiful from the inside out. Framed playbills and Broadway scenes line the lobby and breakfast area walls to celebrate the hotel's shared habitation with Chicago's Bank of America Theatre.
From the valet parking workers to the sales representatives, everyone at the hotel was incredibly welcoming and made sure to greet me with a warm hello. There are always snacks and coffee/tea for everyone who enters the lobby area and they made sure that every visitor felt comfortable and at home.
I loved the orange walls and gauzy curtains in the room; it looked great against the dark mahogany bed frames and side tables.
If you make it to Chicago before September 8th, definitely try to catch a showing of the Tony-winning Broadway musical "The Book of Mormon."
The Hampton Majestic is a great hotel for theater lovers, because it is located above the Bank of America Theater in the heart of the theater district. The rooms are gorgeous but basic, with high ceilings and comfy furniture. The standard amenities are present, the ironing board, hair dryer, etc. If you want a fridge or a microwave you’ll have to ask. The room service is provided by Italian Village, which is some of the best Italian food downtown. If you are staying at this hotel and haven’t booked tickets already, sometimes you can do a pre-show lottery (that’s how it works for Book of Mormon at least). You arrive at the theater two hours before the show begins and put your name into the lottery. If you win, you get great seats!
Incredible location! I like Hampton Inns as they have free breakfast, free internet, and they offer it at a fair price. They also have comfortable beds and great customer service. It's not a luxury hotel, but I always try and stay at Hampton Inns wherever I travel in USA for all the reasons stated above, so don't take the five stars as a comparison to a Hawaiian resort, but rather the most ideal place to stay if you aren't on tropical vacation.
This hotel is in the perfect location, and is located just above the Majestic Theatre. I was in walking distance of a ton of restaurants and the loop. The lobby is on the 4th floor and is secure. You are required to have your card key to access the upper floors. There are only 6 rooms per floor which is also a nice touch. The rooms are great! It was so spacious and organized with a high ceiling. The beds are perfectly comfortable, and the bathrooms are large and well spread out with luxurious showers. Another nice touch is the complimentary breakfast which a lot of the nicer hotels usually do not offer. Wonderful hotel, especially if you need to be close to the loop.
