Tabin Wildlife Reserve

If you can't make a trip to Danum Valley, this is another option that you can go for. The accommodation and facilities here are not as fancy, but the natural environment is stellar. Trekking in the forest here is very therapeutic and it's lovely to see proboscis monkeys, long tail macaques and Bornean gibbons just hanging out. The Dusk Drive is where a lot of the action happens. If you're lucky you get to see Borneo pygmy elephants and orang utans. A visit to the Lipad Mud Volcano is fun too!
