I love this spot. Head downstairs for a half outdoor half indoor pub. There are lot of games you can play like pool, foosball, darts, pinball, basketball etc. Nice beers on top and pretty inexpensive at large. Come here after work with colleagues or for a rando, we don't know what to do, Friday night with friends.
Casey is a Irish bar specialze in Irish pub. One of most popular pub in downtown and is famous for st patrick day.
Pretty fun place. I love Irish pubs and this one didn't disappoint. You go downstairs and there's tables and a nice roomy bar area. Good service with a smile.
Aye Laddie, thars nothen spatial hea... move uhhhh loooong move uhhhh loooong...
On the serious though, this place is dilapidated. The ambiance is lacking due to that. The booths are falling apart. The cushions don’t have much cush, the backing and seats creak and they seem to be rather old. I was ready for our booth to collapse.
I got the stew as I love Irish stew. It turned out to be just about as average as can be. I guess its either a hit or a miss. It wasn’t a hit to me. They had steak fries (thick cut) and skinny fries. The skinny fries I think were frozen or had something weird going on with them compared to the steak fries. My friends were kinda ambivalent about their grub as well.
Get ready for a major bill at the bar too. One of my friends got an irish car bomb and it was super expensive. The beer selection was not my speed unfortunately and the whiskey’s had a hefty price tag associated with them. The bar did look like a fun spot to hang out and have a few regardless of anything else.
Then there was a special activity in the back room. It was the comedy deal on wed night. This is a pretty kewl thing for the patrons especially since you can win free drinks... but you better shout out the answer if you want to win... politeness here will win you nothing!
So overall at best this place is average. Not the height of greatness but not horribly bad either… I guess it just didn’t work for me…
Been going to Casey's for every St. Patty's day the last couple years. The best part is that it's the heart of the St. Patty's Day Festival. This entire bar is located downstairs, but with an open outdoor area entrance. On regular days, they'll have a ping pong table set up there. Passerby's could walk by and look down on people playing ping pong. The inside set up is not typical. Band Stage is all the way in back where it gets hot and sweaty easily. On the way there, you might have to fight a bar crowd in the narrow aisle. And while you are making your way back there, a table might open open up on the right. When that gets boring, there's an entire other table section (often neglected by the bar staff, but also the other patrons as well).
Casey's is larger than your typical dive bar. They have a kitchen to order a stuff like corned beef sandwiches, burgers, or fries. It'll satisfy, but not much more than that. Just think...fried. On days that are not St Patty's day, this bar not patroned heavily, but likely ends up as part of a crawl since there is seldom a line outside unlike some of the other more popular bars around the corner.
