I was not disappointed in Nashville's famous Music Row. After being let down by Beale Street and Bourbon Street in other famous musically inclined cities, I didn't expect much from Nashville. Boy, am I happy I was proven wrong!
Broadway is the main street for Music Row. There are so many little bars and restaurants, all with live country music day and night! Just walking down the street, you'll hear all sorts of fantastic country acts. I'm talking a great mix of decent musicians doing famous country covers, but also those rare gems that are ridiculous talents singing insanely good original songs. It's free to listen if you stand outside, and most of the honky tonks do not require a minimum purchase of food or drinks.
I was in Nashville with my husband who was busy attending a convention, so I spent all five of my days and nights just hanging out down on Music Row by myself. I felt safe and welcomed as a solo female traveler, and I even met plenty of friendly folks. It's amazing how great music brings strangers together.
If you love music, don't miss Music Row. If you're a fan of country music, you'll appreciate it on a far deeper level.
