Hotel Jeanne d'Arc

The personnel at this hotel was really nice, and I enjoyed the décor quite a lot. The downstairs area and breakfast room is decorated with pretty mosaics, and there's a great section near the front desk where they have all sorts of brochures and travel books so that you can get the lay of the land and decide where you'd like to go and what you'd like to visit. You're perfectly situated to explore the historic Marais, Place des Vosges and Saint Paul area. The exposed beams in the rooms were a really nice touch and are in line with the traditions of the neighborhood. While the hotel isn't exactly geared towards LGBT travelers, you are perfectly situated in the Marais, where there are lots of gay clubs and bars. The elevator, however, was terrifying. It's very slow and makes a weird sound; I wasn't sure if I was going to make it all the way up! Luckily, if elevators scare you, you can always use the stairs.

Very pleasant and colourful hotel right around the St. Paul nightlife zone. The common areas were inviting and cozy, with unusual decoration. The rooms were fair-sized, with natural lighting, a good place to come crashing after a tour of the local wine and dine places. The in-room bathroom was clean, and all in all it was a pleasant setting for a very decent pricing in such a lively area of Paris.

This family run hotel of 35 rooms on 6 floors (with elevator) is a rare gem in the Marais that is incredibly good value for this area of town. The rooms are all uniquely decorated with floral bedding, hand painted details such as flowers and cherry blossoms on the walls, and nicely sized bathrooms. The colors used in the hotel remind you of those seen in the villages of the South of France, and photo exhibits are displayed in the hallway. Breakfast is served (for 8 Euros) until 11am in the cozy dining room that is adorned with the hotel’s huge ceramic tiled mirror: a true work of art. The warm terra cotta and yellow colors in the reception area match the kindness of the staff and although it may feel like you are in the countryside, don’t worry, there’s free Wi-fi in all the rooms!

We couldn't have been happier to have chosen this hotel. The neighbourhood is fantastic, not too touristy with plenty to see and do.
