Well, you have to decide if this is your thing or not before you go here. On one hand it is really nice to relax in a hot spring, but on the other hand you have to smell the sulfuric fumes. Those fumes really bother me, so though I enjoyed the heat, I could barely handle the smell. There are varying price points depending on what you want to do, so make sure to check those out beforehand.
This is one of the highlights of a trip to Rotorua - it's just wonderful! You can choose from a range of pools and spas, as well as some more luxurious mud baths and massages. It's in a lovely location with friendly staff and very clean facilities which make it the perfect spot to unwind in on a cool evening.
The best known spa in Rotorua, here you can bathe in sulfur-rich thermal waters from early in the morning until late at night. Definitely worth a visit for hot spring enthusiasts.
My family with my 7-year-old son had a lovely visit. The waters were wonderful to my skin and I felt rejuvenated. It is like a minivacation without having to fly and drive. You decide how much you want to spend on private or public areas and additional services. The sky is the limit. I liked the company of all the Asian women bathing, and egalitarian changing area.
I went at night and it was a great end to a long day. Of course your skin will smell a little sulfuric afterwards...
I realize this is a very popular destination, and most people seem to enjoy it. I was thoroughly disgusted though. Sitting in hot springs with many other sweaty people close together is just not my thing, I guess. And they rented bathing suits. No thanks.
