This park is the heart of North Beach--a wonderful, vibrant neighborhood full of delicious Italian restaurants and cafes.
A large, popular, grassy park near to the Italian district. Lots of bars, shops and cafes all around to grab food and a great place to come and people watch.
A nice green patch in the middle of north beach, a good place to walk your dog or have him run around and socialize, or just a fun place to lounge on the grass
Great park with a bustling energy during a nice day. Great place to eat your lunch and people watch.
Washington square park is the greatest. It isn't square and the statue in the park is Ben Franklin
One of San Francisco's finer parks for lounging about. While it's not my first choice, Washington Square Park definitely holds a soft spot in my heart as a place to sit with a snack. Grab a slice from Tony's or a sandwich from Petite Deli and watch the kids play catch with their dogs. The neighboring Church provides a grand backdrop, especially as the sun is setting.
I love this park and the serenity found here. This section of San Francisco is def my favorite as there is a lot to do here and this park is great for people watching.
This is a fantastic part to spend a leisurely sunny afternoon. There's always enough space to gather some friends. So grab a slice of pizza from Tony's or a sandwich from Molinari's, spread out a blanket, and soak up the sun!
Some might call this the Living Room of North Beach. When Gayle and I walked by yesterday, there were lots of folks lounging around, some sort of Christian performance was going on, and some art on display. I also like watching the folks doing their Tai Chi in the morning and marveling at the view and activity emanating from the Saints Peter and Paul Church across the street. But at the same time, it's a wonderful little island of peace and quiet, as you watch the world go by.
picnic here and watch tourists. sometimes there are some crazies, but for the most part, no one will bother you. bring a bottle of wine and lay back.
Washington Square is North Beach's answer to the Mission's Dolores Park. Any day of the week, you're likely to find people picnicking, lounging, reading, drinking, napping, walking dogs, playing with children, strumming a guitar, meditating, doing tai chi, gazing at Saints Peter and Paul Church, watching movies in the park, or attending the North Beach Festival. It's also a popular location for weddings, and - every December - weddings interrupted by Santacon.
Washington Square Park is the heart of Little Italy - otherwise known as North Beach. I recommend Park Tavern and Original Joes for some of the best food in the city.
The major park in North Beach. A great place to hang out on the lawn and soak in the sun. Plenty of bars and restaurants around to explore, and a 10 minute walk from Coit tower with sweeping views of the bay and city.
Good area, more fun if you bake it into the overall experience of North Beach. Go to a coffee shop, eat some great food, and just move slowly through the area. Hang out in the park for a bit to take it all in. Can get a little sketchy in terms of characters depending on the hour. Not a sight in an of itself but worth a stop in the overall path.
While in North Beach, visit washington square park. It's not big but large enough to feel like you are escaping the city.
One of the premier places in the city for people watching. When you get tired of walking around North Beach, grab a bench or some grass, and watch the world go by.
When there's sun, head to North Beach for a tan!!! Ok so there is no beach here, but the people are tanning! Washington square park is in the heart of Little Italy/North Beach and is popular with the locals. The park is right in front of St Peter and Paul church and is a nice little piece of greenery getaway to dream, play, read and lay :)
not a bad place...
walked through here when I'm running around lil italy. nothing like getting some gelato ...
hanging out in the park taking in the shine of the sun,
the smell of green
and the beat of the city.
and then head back down the street for more good food;.
nothing quite like it....all in a stones throw from the park.
