Huge selection, giant portions and award winning salsas say no more!
Lots of veggie options you can mix and match fillings try the chile relleno burrito yum!
I think Pancho Villa is more Americanized version of Mexican food, having tried all the real authentic Mexican taquerias out there. Don’t get me wrong, food is pretty tasty.
Pancho Villa Taqueria makes delicious tacos and the catered buffet they do makes for a great office lunch.
The best taqueria in the peninsula hands down. They always roll their burrito just right and double wrap the foil so nothing spills
Popular Mexico fastfood restaurant, Poncho Villa has been serving freshly made quesadillas, flautas, tacos and burittos for those to come in for instant gratification to feeding the hunger.
Plenty of seats at this place.
Plenty of options to chose from tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, tostada, dinner meals, and vegetarian options as well.
Plenty of tasty drinks.
I hope you give this Mexican food place a try. Cheers!
Still one of my favorite places to go when I have a craving for fish tacos or watermelon aqua fresca! Their grilled chicken & avocado is also a fav when I'm trying to eat "healthier". But it's always hard to resist their chips and salsa bar!
I love this taqueria. The burritos are great. It's bright and sunny and very clean. Horchata is also quite good.
Hmm, I haven't written a review for Pancho Villa?
I like their food. I like their prices. I like that they cook everything in front of you, and it all looks (and tastes) super fresh.
There are tons of salsas and even a happy hour menu where the prices are even lower (although I haven't had the pleasure of catching).
Super casual, definitely one of my top choices when I'm craving an easy, fast, local, mexican night.
Pancho Villa is definitely a very popular place in San Mateo downtown. I have never seen it without a line no matter what hour of the day it was. I guess being the only taqueria in the neighborhood you can guarantee good business if the food wasn't terrible.
The restaurant is clean, bright and spacious. Not your typical ghetto or a whole in the wall Mexican eatery. It is an open kitchen cafeteria style place. You simply go up to the counter, place your order, wait patiently for the cashier, find a place to sit down and they will bring you the food when ready.
I wouldn't call it great Mexican food but the ingredients were fresh and taste wasn't too shabby. Granted it was certainly not cheap (in taqueria standard). We are talking about over $3 for a basic taco. The $7 for 3 tacos deal isn't too bad though. Do take advantage of the happy hour $1 taco if you happen to be around for an early dinner.
I was slightly disappointed with their seafood tacos. Tried the prawn one, the fish one and the grilled salmon one and they all tasted so-so. Definitely had better elsewhere. (how I miss the seafood tacos at Día de Pesca) Stick with the meaty meat choices if I were you. Things like lengua or chorizo never disappoint.
They have decent aguas frescas that are available in a good variety of flavors.
Pancho Villa is easily my favorite taqueria in the Bay Area. The ingredients they use all taste so fresh and juicy. My favorite is the deluxe spicy chicken burrito.
Good food, huge plates, fair price and good service. I like this kind of restaurant because things are fast and you can enjoy good food without having to spend much.
Too bad they don't have beers here, but the juices and smoothies are a good option to keep you in the light side.
I don't know if I'd say all Nor Cal mexican food sucks (burritos aren't even mexican) but this place is pretty bomb, though they raised the prices twice in the last 5 years which is really annoying. The nachos are great and the super burrito is probably your best bet. Don't fuck with the seafood ones, you will get sick.
Even though all Mexican food in Nor Cal sucks, this place is the least suck-y. Their Happy Hour is an awesome deal, and fills you up - something like $1 a taco and $1 agua frescas. The most delicious thing I've ordered so far is a fish + carne asada burrito. I don't think it's on the menu, but they seem to be pretty good burrito wranglers (or "burristas" like in the commericals).
