Ace Hotel

This is the original Ace Hotel. If you have been to the one in NY with the hip lobby bar where everyone wants to be...this is not that. The Ace concept is to offer cool and stylish at a lower price point than the W. This hotel is located up a long flight of steps (e.g. Not accessible, and rough if you have heavy bags). The lobby is almost non-existent. The rooms are nice, with a couch and comfy beds. But there were lots of little details that made this more of a 3 than a 4 star for me. The water pressure in the shower was really bad. The walls are very thin and the temperature is controlled by old school floor heaters that were hard to get right. That said, wifi was free, location was good and the price was right. Solid option.

Ace is an iconic hotel in Seattle, probably the coolest. The chain started here, now they have one in Panama, London LA, Portland, Palm Springs and New York.
It's trendy art and design at its most contemporary, coupled with great service and food. The converted maritime workers' hotel in Belltown was preserved as much as possible then adorned with a fine collection of repurposed/ vintage furniture, and contemporary art.
You can choose from a deluxe private room or one with a shared bathroom. They have a cafe and bar downstairs open till late, and the prices are not out of range.

This is the hipster spot to stay in Seattle. While you aren't in the middle of "tourist" attractions you are in the middle of Belltown where there are tons of restaurants and bars. The Cyclops is a popular bar downstairs from this hotel and I've spent many a sunny afternoon on the deck and watched the musicians of indie rock bands playing in town walk up the Ace hotel stairs.

The furnishings are minimum and don't expect a Westin style heavenly bed but it's fun and edgy and modern. Very clean and affordable.

Got the room with the wood wall and skinny mirror that goes from the front door to the window, which is like 30 feet? This was long skinny room, as you enter the room to the right is the long wood mirror wall and to the left is a sliding door to the bathroom. Passing the bathroom you will find the platform bed facing the a rustic couch, desk, wall-mounted flat screen and a medium sized window. Above the bed there were four back lit stacks of National Geographic, artsy and useful. The room is very impressive, but the bathroom was actually just a four star. The shower reminded me of some new condo complex shower, it was just blah, no character.

The lobby is ultra kewl. First you will enter the hotel and find a staircase, suspenseful. As you arrive at the top, there will be a front desk not so special, but when you turn to your left you see this long white room with high ceilings lit by a natural light from a moon roof and a long skinny tableau surrounded by chairs. This room is straight out of dwell mag.

They have a cafeteria!!!!! I love it. You can get free breakfast, Stumptown coffee, tea, yogurt, granola, waffles, fruit, cereal. It seats like 15? Read the paper, catch the news on the flat screen or just lounge it up.

Awesome friendly service. Also it would have been a five, but the Ace in Portland beats this Seattle location out, it just has a few more style points.

I don’t think calling this place a cross between a hostel and a hotel is accurate, because the price isn’t bad, but it’s not even close to hostel price. Pros: it’s clean and hip and in a great location. Cons: If you’re on a lower floor above the bar it can stay pretty noisy late at night, and there’s no A/C for those rare occasions when it gets hot in Seattle.

This place is tough to describe – almost like an artsy, slightly more lux hostel. The rooms are really simple and basic, but that’s a good thing. Bathrooms are shared, but there’s a lot of them and they’re really clean, so as long as you don’t mind walking down the hall for the toilet, it shouldn’t be an issue (the hotel supplies robes). My room had a really unique setup – the shower was behind a glass wall behind the bed, along with a sink and mirror. There was also a private door to a little pseudo-outdoor patio area, which was really cool. The location is a major plus here – you’re in Belltown, which is a great nightlife area, and you’re only a few blocks from Seattle Center. It’s only maybe a 10 minute walk from Westlake Center and the market, and getting to the Waterfront is pretty easy too.

It can be budget friendly if you book early. Very hipsterish! Dog friendly!
