Monument and grounds are worth seeing. Also, if you come within 20-30 minutes of the changing of the guard, that's worth the additional wait as well. Just make sure you stand in the right spot on the right and left wings bc they clear the mid section when the changing of the guards ceremony begins.

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is arguably the most familiar landmark aside from Taipei 101 in Taipei. This monument is located in Memorial Hall Square which also houses the National Theater & Concert Hall venues.

What I like the most about the square is the space. It is kind of amazing that there would be an attraction that sets aside such a large piece of land in the heart of the city. It is such a cool place that you can see people doing tai chi in the square in the morning.

Inside the memorial hall, there are honor guards stationed by the statue. I have been to the other memorial hall in town, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and think this memorial is much more impressive due to the building's architecture.

I highly recommend checking this attraction. It is one of those spots in Taipei that makes for good picture taking opportunities and looks great on a postcard.

This is one of the must see spot in Taipei. White building with blue top is the memorial hall for Chiang Kai Shek. Orange buildings are the theaters. If you love jazz, classic music, ballet, modern dance, or opera, you can buy the ticket from the website and enjoy them in these traditional buildings.

The Memorial Hall of the former President provides a serene view of the spacious land, purposefully designed (89 steps to represent his age when he passed) with the memorial figure on the upper level. The CKS Memorial is always guarded and open to tourists. There are also many young children on school tours here, possibly one of their education syllabus. You will also find the National Concert Hall and The National Theatre located on the right and left of the building.

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is actually to keep the ist president of Taiwan - Chiang Kai-shek who is Guo-Min Dang and fought with China' Communist Head - Mao Ze-Dong. After the war, he came to Taiwan and ruled it very well.

Set in a large park reminiscent of China's Tiananmen square, the CKS Memorial Hall is a great place to learn more about the early years of the establishment of Taiwan and the early government. It is great place to visit for history buffs and sightseers alike.

Great, free sightseeing spot for history lovers! They also have a changing of the guard inside one of the buildings.

It's better in the early morning. I went there before 6am, and they were doing the flag ceremony. It was interesting to watch. Sometimes the locals practice the Tai-chi in the morning as well. I just saw a group of people dancing. One of the most picturesque places in Taipei.

Although there are some outstanding galleries and displays the inside fails to live up to the expectations generated by the exterior.

Caught the changing of the guard on my second visit here & happy to know that the 89 stairs up were closed, we ha to suffer taking the elevator up. Also realized that there was a museum and air- conditioned hall under the memorial, which was closed on my first visit. This guard is just beginning hi 3 hour shift for a total of 3 a day. The red ropes are for you tourists that feel inclined to poke them.

Built to commemorate the life of Chiang Kai-shek, this is an impressive plaza. There is the main memorial hall at the end of a long plaza, and as you walk up to the memorial, you have the the Concert Hall on your left and the National Theater on your right. Just the center of the plaza is gorgeous with the beautiful architecture of these 3 buildings. Inside the memorial hall, you can see a display of artifacts from Chiang Kai-Shek's life, and photos from his presidency on the first floor. On the 4th floor is the huge statue of a smiling, seated Chiang Kai-Shek. Every hour or 2, they do the changing of the guard. The guards march through the 1st floor and up to the 4th floor, where they switch out.

Built to memorialize Chiang Kai-Shek and completed in 1980. The hall resembles the Lincoln memorial, with a statue of Chiang in the middle. There's a museum and library below the main hall and you can catch a great view of the National Theater and Concert Hall from the top of the steps.
