Beautiful beach on the west coast of Costa Rica! Clean and not too crowded on the north side, before the downtown area. People selling coconuts for 1000 colones are super refreshing on a hot hot day. Don't forget sunscreen!!!

This laid back beach town was my favorite spot in all Costa Rica. Relaxed and friendly vibe, good, open-air restaurants, nice beaches with good surf, relaxed, open air restaurants and a few fun bars. I could have stayed here for a month.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Tamarindo. Laid back beach town with a safe, calm, and cool vibe. Shopping, eating, beach bumming at it's finest. There are many English-speaking business owners and quite a few hotels and restaurants to choose from, mostly within walking distance. Enjoy surfing, walks on the beach, cold beers, and most of all, the friendly Ticos.

Tamarindo is a really fun place to be with a great beach, good surf spots, plenty of shopping, and fun bars. On the bus, it will end up being about 3-4 hours from the Nica border but the bus system in Costa Rica is really reliable and easy to navigate. I stayed in some cabinas there and it was like $10 per night for a great location and a nice room. I recommend Tamarindo!

Recently visited this place for New Years. Great surfing spot, however did feel a bit touristic.

I personally wasn't in awe of Tamarindo or the beach, but it does make for an awesome surf town. The beach itself is nothing out of the ordinary, except for the waves that attracts mostly surfers. Careful to not step into giant rocks inside the water. Tons of surfing lessons everywhere, and I'll have to admit - some of the best sunsets I've ever seen. Lots to do in this popular Guanacaste beach town - countless restaurants, cafes and surf shops. It's just a shame it's become so touristy, that prices for everything are very high.

Great beach for everybody. A combination of a small fishermen town with a wide range of small and medium size tourist facilities, with a wide price range. Tourists can find vacation rentals too, that go from $50 per night up to $1000. Great place to learn how to surf. The beach is long and by no means crowded. Tamarindo is close to other beaches , so it is convenient as a gateway to places like Playa Grande and Langosta. Lots of restaurants and bars to go out at night.

Tamarindo was really pretty. Beach water was really warm. However, it's rather expensive. It's obviously a tourist destination and prices reflect that. Prices reminded me of a beach town in California - $10 to eat anywhere "inexpensive". With that said, the beach is a thousand times nicer so in the end, I guess it's worth it.

My favorite beach in all of Costa Rica! Great easy surf spot with left and right breaks. Tasty local food, and even horseback riding on the beach. Don't miss a sunset here!

Tamarindo is a Surf town pure and simple. Featured in the epic surf movie Endless Summer 2, this town is full of surfers, surf schools, and surf boards. Every hostel and hotel will have boards to rent and there are instructors everywhere. As such, they party like surfers every night. But that's not all it has to offer. You can scuba dive out Tamarindo, snorkel, zipline, and take all kinds of tours. It's a small town but is a definite popular stop over for travelers and you can meet a lot of interesting people coming through and many of the local places are owned by Ex-pats of various countries. I stayed here for 10 days and had no real desire to go anywhere else. Partied every night, surfed 6 hours a day, and even got in some diving! Definitely a great place to stay for a bit if in Costa Rica.
