Had a great stay - room was a bit tight but staff was friendly and very helpful. They offer many amenities and the location press you in walking distance of the cn tower and other fun attractions in Toronto.
The Hyatt Regency has one of the best rooftop pools in the city, but you have to be a guest to really enjoy it, or shell out $39 for the privilege. While it seems like a lot that price gets you admission and a drink at the bar, so it might be worth it, considering there aren't many rooftop pools in Toronto!
The lobby of the Hyatt Regency kind of looks like a sci-fi movie from the 60s - not entirely sure if it's a good thing or not - with bright white decor and glowing lights - but it's inviting enough to look further. You can get some great views from the higher floors - especially from the 17th floor outdoor pool (closed for the winter, sadly) where you can see Lake Ontario. The room was decently sized with a modern shower - though nothing too special. The hotel is in a great location though - right by some great restaurants and the TIFF Lightbox.
Being in the lobby of the Hyatt wasn’t the most impressive thing ever, despite the attempt at a sleek design, it felt rather sparse and cheap looking. It may be in need of some more regular cleaning, what with people constantly coming in and out from busy King street.
The room had the same feeling, a little tired, as though too many people had stayed there- there was nothing to create a wow factor.
This hotel is very popular for business people during the week, given the many conference rooms they have on the second floor. On the weekend its a different scene though with a younger crowd ready to hit up the neighbourhood clubs.
The service didn’t seem too attentive, like they had something better to do. If you’re looking for some conference space, or to be super close to Toronto’s clubs, then the Hyatt is suitable, although its attention to detail left something to be desired.
Walking into the Hyatt Regency feels like you are entering a futuristic space pod designed by wealthy eccentric from the 90's. There are lots of angular clean lines, minimalist benches and furniture, mirrors, wide curving dark wood panels, all bathed in the glow of cool blue lighting. Oddly enough, I found the effect quite attractive!
The futuristic approach continues in the rooms with more wood paneling, minimalist docor, and modern touches in the bathroom. I really appreciated the media desk, which lets you connect your computer to the TV (who needs cable anyways!), and stylish and spacious bathrooms.
Other great elements include an outdoor pool/patio combo, great for people watching during the warmer months, especially during the Toronto International Film Festival, close proximity to a ton of fantastic restaurants, and the chance to run into some famous athletes (this hotel is quite popular with visiting teams!).
The Hyatt Regency is a giant, white behemoth of a hotel that is enviably located right next to the TIFF Bell Lightbox in the Entertainment District. Inside the lobby it's all black, white, sleek and shiny -- as are the people. Apparently this is where sports teams put up their players, and it definitely has an international, slightly impersonal feel. Rooms are compact, clean and have helpful extras like a media desk, which lets you plug you computer into the TV. There's an outdoor pool on the 17th floor, and from the patio you can see down onto the TIFF Rooftop lounge, where stars throw sexy parties during the film festival. In fact there are great views all around in this hotel, and its central location close to the theatres, Roy Thompson Hall and plenty of restaurants and bars makes the Hyatt a great base for exploring the city.
