Elfin Cove is a remote community of 20 on the northwestern corner of Chichagof Island in southeast Alaska. The village has accommodation and is a good place to go out on fishing excursions. Even if you are not here to fish, Elfin Cove has a gorgeous setting to enjoy for a time away from home.
Although you will need to arrange for a float plane or boat from Gustavus in order to get to Elfin Cove, this spectacular little "town" is worth all the hassle of getting there. Situated off of Chichagof Island on Cross Sound, this place is a mecca for fishing and wildlife enthusiasts. There are several upscale-ish lodges that cater mainly to sport fisherman but I recommend coming here in late summer in order to see humpback whales in their pre-migration feeding frenzy.
