Germany's oldest city is also a super hip college town with a gorgeous central shopping area filled with ancient and medieval landmarks. I enjoyed one nice afternoon in this magnificent city.
Trier is pleasant small city on the banks of the Moselle River in Germany's Mosel Valley Wine Region. It is a city steeped in history, considered to be the oldest in Germany. There are remnants from Roman times which can be seen most prominently at the Porta Nigra, the best-preserved Roman gate north of the alps. Trier Cathedral is another site that shouldn't be missed. Trier is the hometown of Karl Max and his home has been turned into a museum. The city is well-connected by road, river, and rail, and is only a short distance from Luxembourg.
Trier is a city in Germany on the banks of the Moselle. It is the oldest city in Germany, founded in or before 16 BC. Typical German town with great shops and streets to walk down.
Former Roman capital, and currently a lively University center with an active night life. Check out all of the impressive Roman ruins during the day, and party with University Students at the many bars and night culbs at night. Sounds like a good combo to me
